hiccups, re-do's, and the like

We completely overhauled our concept, basically scrapping everything we had done up until last Friday. We decided, after a little pushing each other back and forth (figuratively, not literally :] ), a new idea was born.

The idea is to juxtapose a family with a scene of disaster. The twist is that the family is blissfully unaware of what is happening behind them. At first, it appears comedic. But if you truly pay attention to the details, it is a dark revelation.

We had a difficult time finding the "perfect" family. There were either resolution issues, cropping issues, or tone issues.

And in SEVERAL cases, the family photos were just plain weird. Check out this test we did:

We landed on a family sharing a picnic, even though the cropping of the family's feet forced us into a certain composition.

As of now, this is where we are. Jessie and I are in the process of applying and refining our idea across the mediums. We've decided to make all the artifacts, which is a push, especially since we basically didn't decided on an idea until Monday. 

I'm anxious to see where this project will end up. I look forward to surprising our classmates at critique tomorrow!
