daily 006

so i went to the design week opening bash at the bulger gallery in the crossroads. i wasn't there for long as i didn't recognize a single face in the crowd. even though i was there for only a few moments, a deeper impression was left.

walking up the stairs, a haze of wine overtook my senses. i looked around desperately for a familiar face, but none were there. people were buzzing, laughing too loudly, decorated in leather coats, scarves, and shiny boots. i didn't belong there. the atmosphere was uncomfortable. the people too absorbed in themselves.
i felt uncomfortable.. and un-hip. and this isn't the first time this feeling has approached me in the design world.

  1. it will get better. you will begin to feel more comfortable and confident in social design situations as you grow as a designer. eventually, you may discover that not everyone is as self absorbed as you think and that they may even have an interesting perspective. the guy with the mohawk and metal jacket might be a good place to start ;)
