From Dots to Line

We began Project Two in Visual Communications today. A moment of silence was had among my comrades.

While our initial assignment is 'simple' in theory, it is actually proving to be a challenge. We must illustrate 3 concepts - regularity, progression, and randomness - using only 6 inch, parallel lines. We are only allowed to vary the weight of the line. Regularity and Progression were 'easy' for me because I naturally work systematically. Randomness is where it got difficult. I actually found some inspiration from Kelly's class in our color photo matching exercise. The color matching bars provided a random rhythm that I borrowed and translated into line form.

I'm anxious to hear about our next deliverable but am also grateful for this calm before the storm (I have an art history test tomorrow).
